Institute for Transformative Mentoring (ITM)

Project Description
The Institute for Transformative Mentoring (ITM) is a vibrant team of expert trainers dedicated to advancing program development that centers around the empowerment of credible messengers—individuals who have been formerly incarcerated or impacted by the system. These remarkable men and women are making strides in the social services sector across New York City.

Credible messengers are increasingly recognized at the systems level as a powerful strategy for reducing crime and minimizing involvement in the criminal justice system. They play a crucial role in guiding young people through the challenges of community violence, offering mentorship that helps them steer clear of the justice system.

In addition to this vital work, ITM will host an engaging workshop focused on trust-building and circle work, featuring the Mentor's Action Plan - Credible Community Circles. This initiative aims to foster connection and collaboration among mentors and their communities, enhancing the support network for at-risk youth.
