Abridge responds to a quiet but common tension: the growing emotional distance between students and their parents. As young adults gain independence, staying in touch often becomes irregular—not from lack of love, but due to time, guilt, or overwhelm. Meanwhile, parents wait for small signs of connection. Abridge reimagines how families stay emotionally present without constant conversation. Using research, stakeholder input, and generative design, we explored subtle intergenerational communication. The result is a concept built on small digital gestures and ambient presence—light yet meaningful interventions that reduce effort and pressure, helping families feel close, even when physically apart.
