All for NarWELL (The New School)

Project Description
The All for NarWELL Initiative for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, launched through a three-year GLS SAMHSA grant, was a collaborative effort at The New School to strengthen mental health services, suicide prevention, and overall student wellness. This comprehensive program provided consistent screenings, evidence-based training, and wellness programming aimed at building a campus-wide culture of care. Through tailored training opportunities—such as Psychological First Aid, HigherEd SOS, SafeTALK, QPR, and the Togetherall Trained Peers Program—students, faculty, and staff were equipped to recognize signs of mental health challenges and empowered to support one another. The initiative also offered online and in-person mental health and substance use screenings, distributed educational materials, and coordinated services to address key risk factors such as alcohol and substance misuse and sexual violence. By developing a stepped model of care and fostering collaboration between Student Health Services, Student Support and Advocacy, and The New School for Social Research’s Psychology Department, All for NarWELL created a unified infrastructure that expands access to care, reduces stigma, and promotes help-seeking behaviors. In addition, the initiative raised awareness through educational campaigns and campus-wide events, ensuring that a diverse and at-risk student population has access to meaningful resources and support.
