The Guadalajara Metropolitan Area will host the second International Congress 50-50 under the name of “Cities for Women.” With this forum, continuity is given to the initiative promoted by the Bogotá Mayor’s Office in 2019, which through the Secretariat for Women and the Secretariat for Mobility, held the first edition of the International Congress 50-50. Due to the pandemic, the format will be virtual and will have no cost this year.
The Second International Congress 50-50: Cities for Women arises within the framework of the State Plan for Development and Governance of the State of Jalisco (Mexico), that incorporates Gender Equality as one of its transversal axes to guarantee policies to reduce gender inequalities and women’s access to a life free of violence with a focus on human rights and a culture of peace. Based on Jalisco’s State Plan, this congress seeks to discuss the “Right to the City” from different perspectives as well as the processes and strategies for mainstreaming the gender perspective related to:
The sustainable management of the territory and natural resources;
The participation of women in planning the territory, the city, mobility systems and climate actions;
The access, exploitation and use of natural resources;
The design and use of spaces, as well as the use of urban and rural public services.
The event is hosted this year by the government of the State of Jalisco, Mexico. It will take place on Monday, November 23 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm (CST) and Wednesday, November 25 from 12:00 pm to 7:30 pm (CST). For more information about the program and to register, click here.
