Kartik Amarnath is the Policy Specialist for PUSH Buffalo and a MD and MPH candidate at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Indianapolis, he was raised in four countries and is of Sri Lankan Tamil and Indo-Malaysian descent. He received a B.A. in Biology with Anthropology and Philosophy minors from DePauw University and a MS in Design and Urban Ecologies from The New School.

Kali Akuno is a co-founder and co-director of Cooperation Jackson. He served as the Director of Special Projects and External Funding in the Mayoral Administration of the late Chokwe Lumumba of Jackson, MS. His focus in this role was supporting cooperative development, the introduction of eco-friendly and carbon reduction methods of operation, and the promotion of human rights and international relations for the city.

This event has been organized by Rob Robinson and Tom Angotti for the MS Design and Urban Ecologies Colloquium I. It is free and open to faculty, staff, students and the general public.
