Erden’s Dream — A Magical Encounter on the Grasslands.
Prompt: Inspired by the mobile structure of the yurt from Inner Mongolia, this accordion book explores how place, time, and culture shift across seasons. Through a dream journey on the grassland, the project connects personal memory with a wider cultural landscape, transforming the book into a three-dimensional yurt.
The inspiration for this project comes from the traditional architecture of my hometown, Inner Mongolia, China — the yurt. In the story, I use the yurt’s ability to move freely as the main idea. Through the dream of the main character, Erden, who travels across the grassland in four seasons, I want to show the concepts of time, change, and culture. The final work will be presented as a 3D accordion book. I combined the shape of the yurt with the book so that the final piece will look like a big yurt.
