There's No Place Like Home
Prompt: The objective for this project was to select an image or theme from a previous book project and to turn it into a moving image piece.
For this project I decided to interview my mother while reviewing photographs from many disposable cameras, seeing as though my mother hadn’t seen these images in years. I specifically chose these images due to the nostalgic memory that these archives hold. I aimed to evoke the same emotions that were displayed at the time the photographs were taken.
The objective for this project was to select an image or theme from a previous book assignment and to 2 turn it into a moving image piece. My previous project highlighted the loneliness that I experienced in New York City and how my daily commute back to Philadelphia, PA was my haven; the one place that I could truly be myself.
My intention for this video was to display the love that I have for my home city Philadelphia, while highlighting the pain and sorrow that it also brought me and my family (who resides in North Philadelphia, one of the most dangerous parts of the city). For most people, they would run as fast as they could from North Philly, whereas for me, this is the only place that I can call home.
