Prompt: This project focuses not on a self-portrait but on a reference point from the semester that represents us. The medium is optional in a free-flowing format. The image was given to us of a flower above and below the roots. This is the main point of this project as a finalized version of the roots provided over the course.
My final work lies mainly in the painting’s NYC setting. As in seminar, my final paper focused on the queer community in NYC during the 80s. During this period, loneliness and connectivity played a major role in the LGBTQ community, as isolation is represented by the women portrayed in my work. I learned about solitude during the process of making my work, as I spent 6 hours in silence, painting alone.
