A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print lifted from one surface to another. It is painted directly onto an etching plate and then transferred to paper using an etching press to produce the final image. You will learn how to take both a planned and spontaneous approach to this printing method. Together we will transform this experimental medium into a personal means of exploring your ideas. This student community workshop will bridge the disciplines of printmaking, painting, and drawing.
Please arrive with a pre-drawn image or personal photo to use as inspiration. Your image should match the plate size which will be 5 x 7 inches.
The First Year program will provide all other materials!
