Analise Wetterling
My Sacred Lungs
Prompt: Using linear, planar and/or haptic materials, create a sacred body piece. May be a singular material or a combination of materials
Since the theme was sacred I decided on a body part that held the most significance to me, which were my lungs. Along with high significance, I also wanted to create a personal piece to me to bring in a more personal perspective. When I was younger, my dad had blood clots in his lungs, and because I this I began holding lung’s in higher regard than the rest of my body. Since they’re the soft, spongy shell that protects my heart and helps me breathe. For my materials, I chose a more literal route with pink sponge and sea sponge. Along with pink felt to gestalt the trachea and the bronchi. The most notable aspect of my piece is that I used no glue. Everything is either sewn together or slash and pulled through one material into another.
