Prompt: Using the skills that we learned in class, we were prompted to create an environment that either radiated a sense of place or play.

My intention when making this piece was to create a spatial representation of our world right now (especially due to the pandemic and many sociopolitical issues we experienced this year). My intentions were to include elements of isolation, chaos, and an overall change in our environment. I wanted some of the human figures to seem as though they were met with temptations that could lead to serious consequences (as seen with the figure facing the broken stairs as well as the figuring facing the breaking floor). This reflects the inner conflict we are experiencing right now, representing a fight between what our mind is telling us to do and what our heart wants us to do during these tough times.

I wanted to display the skills I attained through the course on transforming shapes, human figures, and illustrating color gradations in my piece.
