Fragments of Emotion
Class of: 2029
Major: Communication Design BFA
Medium: Artist Book
Faculty: Studio: Jackie Slanley / Seminar: Ricki Dwyer
Prompt: This project focused on creating an artist book inspired by a chosen artist. Instead of simply presenting information, the book became a space to explore ideas, memories, and research through images, text, and structure in a more interactive and sensory way. We were able to either focus on one specific artist or explore and present our own ideas.
I believe there is always a reason behind the photos I take. They function not only as visual documentation but also as records of my emotional state at that moment. When I look at color, I feel that even in moments of sadness or loneliness, it can bring me a brief sense of unspoken comfort. For me, Color gives a strong emotional impact, which led me to reflect on many photographs in my album that may seem random at first glance, but are all centered around color. By revisiting these images, I began to recall the emotions and moments connected to them. Using my own photographs as a starting point, one side presents the image I took, while the other translates my personal way of seeing into a playful visual language. Through color, I reinterpreted these memories and emotional experiences in my own way.
