Prompt: This is project 2 from Digital Fabrication class and the theme is "DESIGN YOUR PATTERN"

In this project, I explored designing patterns and printing them on fabric for the first time. Inspired by the possibilities of digital textile printing, I used elements of carbon fiber and watermarks to create intricate designs that symbolize luxury and authority. This experience allowed me to experiment with new techniques and materials, pushing the boundaries of my creativity. The project also allowed me to explore diverse styles and techniques in textile design. Drawing inspiration from traditional carbon fiber patterns and experimenting with the “Grey Scale” I learned in my painting class, I created unique color combinations. Additionally, I used hand sketches and block prints to translate my research and inspiration into tangible designs, adding depth and complexity to my concepts. One of the challenges I faced was finding the right balance between the hardness of carbon fiber and the softness of velvet in my design. However, this challenge also led to one of the project’s successes, as the contrast between the two materials created a visually striking effect that I was very pleased with.
