Dandelion

Class of: 2028

Major: Communication Design BFA

Medium: Film/Video

Faculty: Matt Whitman

Prompt: The assignment was to create a 60 second film using still images.

This film tells the story of a child’s memory intertwined with the journey of a dandelion seed. The child blows on a dandelion given to her by her mother. Time flies by and she stops in front of a dandelion, recalling that memory. The passage of time is shown through the trace of the dandelion seed’s journey. The film is composed of still images created using drawings on paper, clay, thread, and wire. While taking photos, I focused on creating space with the objects and the background to bring them to life. The audio was crafted from recorded street sounds and the ripples produced by water droplets falling into a full cup.
