Prompt: We were tasked with creating a 3D object or artifact that showcases our connection to our identified community, personal beliefs, or personality.

The objects I made, the trumpet mutes and box, show my connection to the band and Chinese community. I wanted to showcase an intersection between my American and Asian culture through combining Asian designs and patterns into my trumpet mutes and box. The designs painted on the mutes are based off of Chinese porcelain vases such as the David Vases. For the box I took inspiration from the rich dark color and intricate engravings characteristic of a lot of Chinese furniture, especially the furniture from my Grandma’s house in Taiwan.
