Spike City
Prompt: This project explored the relationship between architecture and fashion by designing a wearable accessory inspired by architectural structures and design principles. The assignment required researching influential architects and architectural movements, developing concept sketches, and creating a final wearable piece using geometric forms, structural experimentation, and fabrication methods such as Rhino, laser cutting, or 3D printing. The goal was to transform architectural inspiration into a functional yet sculptural fashion design.
My project, Spike City, is a wearable architectural accessory inspired by Frank Gehry’s deconstructivist design style. Using bold geometric forms such as cubes, triangles, and sharp structural elements, I transformed architectural principles into a sculptural wearable piece. The design focuses on modular construction, dramatic volume, and wearable functionality, combining architecture and fashion through Rhino modeling, wood, and 3D printing. The final piece explores how structure itself can become both artistic expression and wearable design.
