Prompt: The project was to be made in Premiere Pro. A video including some use of "discontinuous" time and interruption in the flow of the primary narrative. The video must combine and mix multiple audio tracks with multiple layers of video, integrating these to create a spatial atmospheric experience. Walter Murch’s “Rule of Six” was also taken into consideration (Emotion 51%, Story 23%, Rhythm 10%, Eye-trace 7%, Twodimensional plane of screen 5%, Three-dimensional space of action 4%)

I was determined to create a video that mimicked the feeling of a nightmare. Without a continuous, chronological narrative and random changes of scenery and action. The video is a mix of still images and clips, creating variety in the flow for abruptness. I wanted the feeling created to be ominous and eery, a sense of impeding doom without reason or end point. The symbolism of holiness around the apple connects to the nonsensical nature of the video, since biblically the apple is used a metaphor for temptation and the fall of man. Deliberate bites out of an apple which frames itself as ‘holy’ shows a lack of resistance of wanting to wake up from this reality, instead accepting it. Taking the metaphor further I wanted to film it in a garden-like setting, shooting in different locations within it. Both the sound and the video clips include many layered tracks, several with the ‘Difference’ or ‘Darken’ blend mode. Vertical and horizontal distortion was heavily used to aid the feeling of spiraling into this confusing, amorphous nightmare.
