Luna (Handmade Iron Bowl)
Class of: 2029
Major: Strategic Design and Management BBA
Medium: Welded Metal Sculpture
Faculty: Aaron Krach
Prompt: For my second final project of the semester, I was instructed to create a bowl or another vessel of our choosing. That is capable of comfortably holding at least six pieces of fruit. The design requirements specified that the final product must be reusable, washable, and durable.
This sustainable, hand-welded decorative bowl is crafted from recycled industrial metal discs. Inspired to
combine industrial modern aesthetic with an organic form, the piece features a cold silver base painted in
varying shades of silver. This layering technique creates a striking, monochromatic finish that mimics a
weathered texture while remaining sharply modern. Rather than being perfectly aligned, the discs are
dynamically arranged to evoke the glowing, offset silhouette of a gibbous moon. Capturing a distinct
sense of movement, this durable and timeless work serves as the perfect centerpiece for a minimalist
space
