Pink doll head

Class of: 2028

Major: Fashion Design BFA

Medium: Plaster and spray paint

Faculty: Carol peligian

Prompt: Heads mean many things---they can be cultural, sexual and social identifiers, created as portraits, busts, totems, etc, etc, etc. We talked about the power of a piece expresses by pneuma, the feeling of breath and the internal pressure that creates a tension between what is to be and what is manifested or physically made. The head has a certain fellowship with nature, its perceptive orifices creating a instrument or opportunity in which our own personal human nature and that of the natural or elemental world are in dialogue.

I made this sculpture by making a sculpture with clay. Then after sculpting I made a mold with silicone then casted in plaster. When the plaster was set I finished it off with pink paint. When I was younger many people called me a doll. I was very quiet and so I was just seen as a cute little face. This sculpture is meant to show that I am more then just a little doll.
