Prompt: Students will design and create a 3D object or artifact that reflects their connection to a community or expresses an aspect of their identity, beliefs, or personality. The object can be a sculpture, a functional tool, or a body extension (such as an accessory, garment, or prosthesis). The aim is for the object to visually express feelings of belonging or connection to a particular community, whether chosen or inherent.

I have chosen to focus on dance, specifically competition, and how, on stage, we wear a second skin that gives us confidence and bravery. For me, jewellery serves not only as a form of self-expression but also as a way to boost my confidence. Similarly, when I’m on stage performing, I get a newfound sense of confidence through a character I am expressing. I am choosing to create a jewellery box that mimics a stage to connect two things that have given me bravery and made me more authentically myself over the years.
