"Blobs, The Game"

Class of: 2029

Major: Fashion Design BFA

Medium: Multi-media: Fabric, wood, acrylic marker, and video

Faculty: Alexandra Ingle

Prompt: We had to create an object personal to us as a soft sculpture.

My project represents the personification of my art block. I chose to document this through intentional materials, weight, and a video documentation. Choosing fluffy, light, materials, the blobs appear approachable and interactive. When actually held, they carry a heavier weight than they appear. This is meant to symbolize the weight I feel experiencing art block and how things can appear a lot lighter on the outside. Accompanied with the blobs is a carnival style game that prompts the audience to interact further with the piece. As most carnival games, it’s intentionally rigged so that the blobs only make it into the “Procrastination” hole, given that’s all they wish to do.
