Prompt: In this multi-week project you will create a piece of time-based media (a video) using tools like cameras and audio recorders and you will edit it in Adobe Premiere. The project is an exploration of how editing can shape our perception of time and events and create new and unexpected meanings and connections.

This film tells the story of four people going about their lives when subtle disruptions begin to occur. These disruptions ramp up as the video goes on climaxing when chains appear and disrupt the activities they were partaking in. Through sound, video and time manipulation I was able to make people feel strong emotions and develop their own meanings behind the work I created. I heavily experimented throughout my creation of this piece. I took a lot of risks and pushed my knowledge of Premiere Pro to a new level as I edited this video. I experimented with a lot of the video effects to create the distorted look that the video showcases. In terms of sound before this I had little experience with sound design and experimented a lot with how to manipulate the sound into what I wanted it to be. One instance I’m proud of is the heels clacking, which was originally just drum beats but I was able to manipulate it into the sound I needed. Overall, since I wanted my video to become a distorted, disrupted narrative of color and experiences I had to discover and experiment with new tools to reach my end goal which I believe I did. From my first storyboard to the final result my piece evolved and changed. It continued to change through drafts of edits and iterations that I created, all of which led me to create a piece that I am really proud of.
