Yogic Yasmin
Prompt: To create any form of design based on an interview with someone from class.
In the rhythm of letters, my typeface design embodies the essence of yoga. Each character morphs into an abstract figure engaged in various yoga poses and stretches, embracing the diversity of body types. This design is a testament to the inclusivity of the ancient practice. Inspired by my partner Yasmin’s passion for yoga, each letter embodies a unique yoga pose or stretch. The abstract figures challenge societal norms, highlighting that fitness is not confined to a specific body shape but thrives in the internal health of an individual. The open-ended figures symbolize the adaptability of yoga—a therapeutic practice that extends beyond conventional exercise. Yoga, as depicted in Yogic Yasmin, is a holistic practice offering everlasting benefits for the mind, body, and soul. The carefully selected colors, bari red, gypsy yellow, and ivory white, echo the warmth provided by yoga and ground the project in the earthiness of its ancient practices. Yogic Yasmin invites viewers to reconsider their notions of fitness and embrace the open-ended possibilities of a transformative journey that transcends shapes and sizes.
