Redyfining Fashion
Prompt: This was our final thesis project for Sustainable Systems.
For my final project, I wanted to explore different alternative ways to fashion. By fusing plastic bags, I created a jacket out of them. This functions as a windbreaker and took plastic bags out of the landfill. As well as growing kombucha leather to create a wallet out of it in response to other leathers used by the fashion industry. Through this project, I wanted to create beautiful pieces that were repurposed “trash”. We throw away many items that we deem valueless and I want to take some of those items and integrate them into fashion which is typically a very trash-consuming field.
