Taimane Aveau

I used sketches my partner Edie Alguero drew as well as images from newspapers and magazines I found on the side of the road to create her portrait. After visiting the Met together, I learned that Edie loves sculptures, sketches and paintings from Ancient Greece. I wanted to incorporate that into her portrait so I edited the photo of her face to look like an oil painting. She also played the piano growing up, and made a presentation about it in our seminar class where she compared the piano to teeth so I incorporated that little teeth figure as well. For my self-portrait, I again used images from magazines I found on the side of the road, one of which being an old gardening magazine. My middle name is Rose and I figured it would be cool to incorporate flowers as well as the color yellow(my favorite color) in my project. The background image I used was also near and dear to me as it was a portrait of one of my favorite directors, Wong Kar-wai.
