This piece was inspired by a Chinese poem named “Waiting for guest” (约客) by Shixiu Zhao(赵师秀). Here is the complete poem.

“When plums turn ripe each house the rain starts to cover, in ponds and in green grass everywhere frogs scatter. Until after midnight the guest I invited hasn’t come yet, I’m bored to knock on chesses to shake down the dead wick flower.”

黄梅时节家家雨,青草池塘处处蛙。 有约不来过夜半,闲敲棋子落灯花。

I fell in love with this poem since middle school and finally got a chance to transform it into my version.
