Mono Blue Prickly Heart
Prompt: This project investigates the structure of natural or artificial exoskeletons and develops a wearable design made from linear materials. We will study the structure and explore which materials are suitable for the structure and attachment methods. The structure will act as a shield/shell covering the face, arms, legs or other body parts. Consider how these attributes can be expressed visually. Focus on three-dimensional design elements: How lines become shapes. How lines create volume.
This project is inspired by Chinese history, where there was a very harsh punishment of thorns on the collarbone. And in modern fashion, the lines in some artists’ clothing design work would outline some very beautiful shapes. For me, because I have a round face, I am very often perceived as being very gentle and giving a lot of emotional help to others, but while helping others, I can also be hurt, so in this project, the whole installation is made up of a lot of flower petals, and the overall color is blue, which is the dreamy color of a lot of the insects that I have seen in my research. Although these insects have beautiful colors to attract people, their whole body is toxic. But the whole body is filled with toxicity. In the combination of the petals, the tips of the petals will be facing me, and this design symbolizes that maybe I give some tenderness to others, but at the same time I give emotional value, I also get stung. My design conveys the contrast between inside and outside; what the outside world sees may be beautiful and soft, while the reality inside or around me is full of pain.
