Ginkgo Sun

Class of: 2029

Major: Fashion Design BFA

Medium: Cyanotype Paper

Faculty: Carolina Obregon

Prompt: This project was assigned to the class as a way for us to create art using the Earth's natural processes. We brought natural objects like leaves, flowers, and wood, and technical objects like necklaces, sunglasses, and cosmetic products. We used the sun to make prints on the cyanotype paper with our objects laid on top, then rinsed the paper to reveal the print left behind by the sun's light.

This piece used Ginkgo leaves, an important part of my family’s history. Ginkgo leaves have an important meaning within my family’s heritage, as many generations have used Ginkgo leaves for artistic purposes.
