The Transformation of a Selkie
Prompt: Make a multiple frame sequence involving a character or thing transforming from one state to another.
For this project, I decided to explore how a character in my passion project transforms from a cetaceanlike creature to a human. This creature is loosely inspired by the mythical creatures called Selkies from Irish, Nordic, and Scottish folklore. Instead of shedding a seal fur coat, this character instead goes through a quick metamorphosis, and the membrane left behind is the ‘cocoon’ that solidifies into her dress. I had this concept in my head for a while and decided to use this assignment as an opportunity to explore the step-by-step transformation as I continue the development of this comic.
