Prompt: Create a wearable accessory using the newly learned skills in the wood shop. Using only mechanical connectors, wood, resources from the making center, and personal design choices, manufacture a piece that fits these parameters.
I decided to create a lariat worn down the back of the body, vaguely resembling a person’s spine. I used wood to convey the rigidity of human bone, in contrast to the wearer’s flexible skin. I find myself inspired by surrealist motifs, and bones are no exception. Through this assignment, I aimed to create a necklace that feels both inspired and wearable.
