Figure Drawing Club | Online

Tuesday, July 12, 2022
8:00PM – 9:30PM

Join Parsons faculty member Jeff Beebe to draw from modeling videos, classical sculpture and a variety of other graphic formats. Jeff will facilitate this virtual session and give individual instruction. Think of this weekly session as a comfortable place to meet on Tuesday nights where we’ll share drawings we have done during the week and try different techniques: contour, blind contour, gesture, silhouettes, short poses and long poses. We will also explore a variety of drawing styles from classical traditions to cartooning.  We’ll be using sketchbooks, too, as a way to study master draughts people from Winsor McCay to Käthe Kollwitz to Kara Walker.

Be prepared with drawing materials (charcoal, graphite pencils, erasers, sketchbook, 18” x 24” drawing pad, 18” x 24” newsprint pad). Also, please consider purchasing a set of Micron Pigma pens in the following sizes: 005, 01, 05, 08, 1 and Brush (BR). These sessions will take place weekly until August 3.

Exile – A Multimedia Student-led Publication

Wednesday, July 13, 2022
9:00AM

Meetings for Exile – A Multimedia Student-led Publication, with Parsons faculty member Rodger Stevens will continue to take place virtually this summer! These meetings will follow up on our mission to create a unique school paper – one conceptualized, produced, and maintained by students, for students. We will continue the work begun in Spring 2021, shaping every aspect of setting up and creating content for a serial publication that will exist on social media, as a website, and as a fully-realized, thoroughly unconventional publication. Everyone is welcome! No materials will be required to join this Club, only a willingness to try and make this thing happen!

This club is held this summer every three Wednesdays. The remaining session will be held on August 3.
