In this workshop with Parsons faculty member Reade Bryan, students will learn the fundamental principles of orthographic drawing, including: Plan, elevation, isometric, dimetric, and trimetric views. Students will use drafting tools, pencil, and paper to produce simplistic sets of scaled drawings that depict objects and spaces in an organized fashion. We will discuss how orthographic drawings are used in the design process, communication, and presentation of ideas.
Students will leave the workshop with a basic understanding of orthographic drawing and the importance of designing from distinct views. Orthographic drawings will provide students with a more sophisticated alternative to sketching when planning projects.
Please see this materials list to be sure you come prepared with all necessary materials.
