Prompt: This assignment asked that we make a visual project based on a chosen topic regarding body covering. We were told to decide for ourselves how to portray clothing and what we wished to say about it.

Stemming from the idea of clothing as a disguise, this project used visual inspiration from poison mimicking sea creatures to portray the use of body ornamentation as something that transforms us into something other. Like how certain species of nudibranchs don on a mask of beauty that both warns predators and attracts humans, people are also inclined to utilize body coverings to create aspects of themselves that otherwise are not present, donning a coat of wealth or a mask of beauty. The actual piece is part dress part sculpture and probably functions best in installation-based settings.
