Prompt: For our first Space and Materiality project we were asked to create a sculpture with the title 'Sacred and/or Reinvented' or 'Extended Body'.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title ‘extended body’ was how masks nowadays have become part of us and it feels unnatural to leave the house without one. I decided that to express this idea of the mask being an ‘extended body’ part I was going to have it hang from the ear. I sketched some ideas, which I then developed after having gotten feedback from my teacher and peers. I made prototypes using clay and really liked working with this material. Therefore, chose to use it for my final sculpture. Since I wanted this pieces to hang on the wall, I chose to use wire for the mask’s elastic, which I then painted with white acrylic paint. Lastly, I painted it with a layer of white acrylic, which I think really brought the piece together.
