Sustainably Made Felt Hat

This hat was made from local wool, and every other material used in the making process was something that I already had, or that I found in the recycling. The wool was dyed using natural materials such as turmeric, spinach, red onion skins, and red cabbage. I made a two dimensional mold out of cardboard that I got from the recycling, and a three dimensional mold for the hat out of plaster that I had leftover from another project. The hat was felted using these two molds and the waste products were disposed of in a sustainable way. I reused, composted, and recycled everything I could. The remaining waste was liquid waste from felting, which went down the drain. The only waste that ended up in the landfill was the molds, which would not have been needed if this hat was being mass produced. The molds would not be made for a one time use, but would be reused over and over.
