Prompt: Create an object/ design/ practice that employs the principles of Long Life Design and can be continuously maintained and adapted over the course of ten years.
For this project, I created a glove optimised for cleaning that aims to eliminate or at least minimise the use of disposable cleaning tools such as kitchen towels and tissues. I used GOTS certied organic cotton to crochet the glove, which has a lighter impact on the environment as no harmful chemicals are used to maintain the crops, therefore non can enter and negatively impact the ecosystem. The glove can be adapted over time in three main ways, including, mending holes with yarn, repurposing yarn for other projects and spinning your own scrap yarn. The specics are detailed in the resiliency story.
To encourage others to recreate the glove, I lmed two tutorials; one that explains the basic crochet skills needed to create the glove so everyone can follow along, and one that explains how to make the glove itself. As well as a video to demonstrate the functions of the glove.
