Prompt: The final project is a culmination of your work in this class and it is also an opportunity to develop your own thesis idea. Using the texts provided, consider concepts related to time, whether it is memory, archive, time as cyclical, linear, durational etc... You may choose the medium/media that you feel would be best suited to your idea, which you feel is challenging, and/or which you feel builds upon ideas you are interested in exploring further.

After reading Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets, and Philosophers by Leonard Koren I was really
intrigued by the concept of the beauty of imperfection. In particular, one quote stood out to me: “Wabi-sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.” This quote captures the essence of wabi- sabi beautifully. The reading also reminded me of the idea of spiral wisdom. Spiral wisdom suggests that life’s journey isn’t a straight line but rather a spiral. We continually return to the things we thought we understood and uncover deeper truths along the way. It reflects our pattern of growth and evolving journey. I implemented this idea of the spiral wisdom and wabi-sabi in my final project, through a mixed media animation.
