Waiting for Awakening

Class of: 2025

Major: Fashion Design BFA

Medium: Photography

Faculty: Freya Powell

Prompt: How do we contextualize ourselves in the present moment? This is an opportunity to consider how you relate to your "now". Are you grounded by your location? Your age (just starting college)? This historical moment of a global pandemic? By a trend in fashion or music? During our time together you have been exposed to all sorts of new artists, designers, ideas, texts, theories, and concepts, how do these new ideas and visuals influence your present moment? Each student will be working on their own to create a “chapter” for a collective book responding to the title "Myself in Time." You will be responsible for creating 5 spreads (10) pages that can be made up of text and image, text as image, or image. The chapters will be combined and made into a book.

This project is about my physical and mental status during the pandemic. I took all those pictures with my iPhone in my bedroom because it is the place I spend most of my time for study and rest. Each image represents my inner power, fantasy, struggle, and reflection. All those are my emotional transition, that part of waiting for awakening.
