Medium: Sculpture: yogurt cup, silk, thread, seed beads
Faculty: Sam Bennett
Prompt: This assignment is the next iteration to Project 1 (the recreation of a favorite object) where we were asked to take that same object but imagine it in a new material, like Meret Oppenheim's fur-lined teacup.
For this next iteration, I wanted to use seed beads (as I have many and I love tedious needlework). Now, under Cuomo’s shelter-in-place orders, I noticed while eating breakfast my yogurt cup was almost exactly the same shape as my thermos lid! So I cut the bottom and sanded it to the same height, poked holes along the top and bottom to secure a padded rim (a green silk tunnel threaded with yarn), beaded these two rims (circling the top and bottom mouth of the yogurt cup), and strung alternating green and amber seed beads between.
