When fashion meets architecture
Prompt: This project offers the opportunity to delve into the captivating intersection of fashion and architecture. Students will craft a unique mini-collection of jewelry (minimum three pieces) or a wearable accessory by drawing inspiration from iconic architectural landmarks and structures using the 3D design principles and elements. Through laser cutting and the optional usage of 3D printing technologies, participants will explore the complexities of architectural aesthetics while honing their skills in 3D design and fabrication.
This project helped me explore how fashion and architecture can come together through jewelry. I learned how to use found and repurposed materials to create new pieces that feel personal and expressive. Inspired by the bold shapes and symmetry of Art Deco — especially the Chrysler Building — I experimented with layering, combining parts, and using gel adhesive to fuse different elements together. It taught me that you don’t need traditional materials or methods to make something meaningful. Each piece I made is a little sculpture you can wear, and I’m proud of how I transformed everyday objects into something with style and intention.
