Prompt: Redesign an object you interact with every day to make it more sustainable.

Does wearing contact lenses inherently mean that we will generate billions of pounds of plastic waste? Of course not. Creating a more sustainable system of cleaning and caring for contact lenses starts with rethinking the case to extend its life cycle.

Since the part of the case which makes it single use is the platinum disk, what if we make that replaceable? I have redesigned the case to have a screw on replaceable platinum bead, in essentially the same place as the disk in the current design, meaning it serves the same function of creating bubbles to clean and neutralizing the solution. The bead has a platinum coating and a red plastic center so as the platinum wears off and it comes time to replace, the consumer will easily know. But my redesign goes beyond this aspect and instead aims to completely change the way consumers interact with their eye care.
