Prompt: Choose a pattern to overlay on a meaningful image in Illustrator/Photoshop. Paint the image.

I used an image of my sister and I as children and overlayed a stained-glass wavy pattern. After making about fifty or so color samples, I finally chose this one. I then spent hours mixing the colors and painting the chosen image.

The pattern is suppose to distort the image just enough for it to be abstract, while the subjects are still somewhat visible. The wavy pattern resembles distortion of childhood memories and life passing by. The colors have a nighttime and sunset feel, but together with the pattern remind me of cars driving fast through the city at night, just like life passes quickly. The canvas size is 36 inches by 36 inches.
