Prompt: This project gets inspiration from my partner through interviewing. The topic is called “Resilient”, and I think vitality under heavy pressure is also the meaning of resilience. What is more, it reminds my partner of Wu kong, the main character in the Chinese fantasy novel “Journey to the West”. By researching, I used the paperboard with the silver color, wire lines, and some pearls as the materials and use the Chinese traditional craft – the method of dot cui to express the Characteristics of Wu Kong as a soldier.
This project gets inspiration from my partner through interviewing. The topic is called “Resilient”, and I think vitality under heavy pressure is also the meaning of resilience. What is more, it reminds my partner of Wu kong, the main character in the Chinese fantasy novel “Journey to the West”. His image is multifaceted and contradictory. He was born as a devil, representing evil, but he performs tasks for the gods and protects his master, a devout Buddhist. Similarly, he is burdened with love and affection, but he can be a hero in addition to satisfying his desires. In short, my partner saw in him the growth of a teenager. How does a teenager grow from a rebellious stage of self-righteousness to a young man who takes care of his family and has love? Then how does a youth learn to balance love and devotion to a great cause and be a resilient person? When my partner encounters extreme beliefs and differences, she hopes she can maintain a neutral attitude like Sun WuKong and be able to integrate the strengths of various ideas to achieve a very integrated and resilient way of thinking.
