Prompt: An opportunity to apply the tools you have acquired to problems that the editing tools and concepts we have so far addressed. They can include exploring approaches to time, performance, video, book etc... The project can be conceived as an “experience” or it can be a way to approach a specific problem. There is a lot of room for you to explore your interests within this project, but at its heart, it must continue to explore the idea of the composition of time.
In this piece, I wanted to portray the missing moments of life. Inspired by the current situation of quarantine, I wanted to use the outdoors as a medium to showcase little aspects of everyone’s lives. Being my first time trying to animate, I used symbols that felt familiar to me and thought other people could relate to as well to express happenings in life that we often seem to miss.
I used Adobe Illustrator to draw out the frames for the animation and Premiere Pro to compile and edit the film. As I made progress with the editing I realised I wanted to show more variation with different times of day and different places as well as different characters that felt important to me.
Finally, I added text to highlight the impact of the visuals and emphasise my thoughts. The idea was to make a film that made you think about life and the role time plays in it. Many times we don’t even realise how fast time has gone by and we have not cherished the moments to the fullest because we are too busy just living. The intention was to think about the time space that exists in-between these moments of change and feel the growth.
