Prompt: The prompt for this project was to create a superhero character and the costume for it using recycled materials. The second part of this assignment was to design a poster that included the ideation and making process of this piece.
Meet Meng, the superhero who spreads happiness through her dream deliveries.
This two-piece costume is constructed out of black garbage bags and yellow plastic bags from a nearby grocery store. The top garment textile is created by weaving the plastic bags, while the bottom skirt textile is created by fusing the bags using an iron and then put together with a sewing machine. More details about my ideation and making process can be found on the poster.
