Prompt: Construct a 1:1 scale wire sculpture of a culturally significant object (such as a shoe) while using cross contour to define volume.

This shoe is a strong representation of multiple aspects of my personality and identity. It has a clear style, and the platform sets it apart from a classic Mary Jane. With that being such a vital component of the shoe, it was important to focus on translating the sole sculpturally. Dark annealed wire was used for primary contour lines while steel wire represented cross contour lines. This creates a defined contrast between structure and energy. The height of the shoe is accentuated by relying on vertical lines. Through the building process, there was a point in connecting the wires where they could rotate while staying in place. I fastened the straps using this technique, allowing them to open, close, and slide into the buckles on the opposite side.
