This piece was made out of paper cutouts of monochromatic shades of the color red. My focus was on the anklet which has an cultural importance to me. The word ‘payal’ in the Indian language, Hindi, translates to anklet. I use to wear them everyday and especially while doing my Indian classical dance. The ripples under my leg represent the sound and the color that came to my mind while thing of the payal. The color red reminds me of the Indian culture and my passion for dancing when I am wearing my long Indian skirt.
