The assignment was to conduct an interview with someone within a subculture that you are a part of, and use it to create a conceptual look-book. I conducted my interview on the topic of makeup, and throughout was inspired by this person’s use of color as a medium of self expression, while also using it as a means of manipulating their own emotions. Stating “Color makes me happy” multiple times throughout the interview. So it was important to me to make this book as bright and colorful as possible. I wanted it to be innately happy, and to make people looking at it feel that mood. In part of the interview we talked about not caring what other people thought, and just being yourself no matter what, so I wanted to bring that theme to the book as well. Overall I wanted the book to be a representation of the effect that color can have on a persons mood, and that no matter how far you push your aesthetics, as long as you stay true to who you are, you can bring happiness to yourself and the people around you.
