‘Only for the First Time’ is a short film based on my ‘Coney Island Memorabilia’ piece. Featuring unsent letters and postcards, it explores the idea of visiting Coney Island during winter. I was intrigued by the idea of a ‘ghost town’ Coney Island, one where the rides are shut down and the boardwalks are empty. For me, visiting Coney Island during the winter is like revisiting a summer memory that has long passed. I wanted to express the futility of both acts in this film.
