For this project, I created a fruit bowl using recycled materials. I just moved into a new apartment and I have been surrounded by all of the waste of cardboard boxes. I wanted to push what I usually think of when I think of a fruit bowl. I used. cardboard from the box of a vacuum and extra legs from my bed frame to create a sculptural fruit bowl. I cut and manipulated the cardboard to allow for dimensionality as well as different crevasses for fruit to rest and hang on. I then painted it to elevate it from looking like a cardboard box. The metal legs on the bowl contrast with the organic quality of the bowl itself. I don’t usually create three-dimensional pieces but it was an interesting challenge to incorporate my own style into an everyday object.
